Hues that dazzle: pea green and navy.

Lately I've been pulling out the most random pieces possible from my closet. Sometimes I come up with an unlikely pairing that I just love. Yesterday it was pea green and navy. Sort of off, but it works I think.

green + turquoise

I tried to copy this color combo with things already in my closet. Came up with this.

Bright green + muted turquoise + vibrant turquoise + reddish coral lip. I may have a new favorite color pairing.

plum + red

Plum looks great with red. See?

Hues that dazzle: fall layers.

Today I am making a color palette based on the outfit I'm wearing. That's weird, I know. But I like the outfit and I can do whatever I want.

plum sweater and aqua collared shirt: old navy (5 years ago). gold earrings: ny and co.

P.S. If you haven't checked out kuler yet, you should. It's where I make all these fun color schemes. You upload the photo and then it pulls the main colors and creates the palette. You can choose mutes, bolds, etc. All sorts of options. Then you can save the palette, give it a title, and the community rates it. (This one is on there and it's called "fall layers.")

Hues that dazzle: vintage lollipop

My friend took this photo of my lil cousin and I just went wild for the colors!

Hues that dazzle: sweet pink and brown.

How sweet is she? I think her eyes dazzle more than anything. Eyes aside, I love the way pink and brown marry. A rich and deep with a sweet and hazy equals perfection.

Hues that dazzle: multicolor confetti.

I found this lovely image on Green Wedding Shoes. What a fun idea for a photoshoot: confetti! Check out these other adorable confetti ideas.

A note about mom (since it is almost Mother's Day): My mom is a huge confetti advocate. She uses it every chance she gets. Somehow, she even got a hold of some while she was in Iraq. Most letters I got from her were full to the top with sparkling confetti bits (sometimes it was holiday-themed and wasn't relevant to the time of year, but it was the confetti thought that counted). One day my dog barfed a confetti star. I blamed mom. Her other choice for card-fill? GLITTER. The fine, fairy dust kind that gets stuck down your bra and on your face and in the grains of your carpet.

It's a sweet thought--the symbolism of confetti. The fun, bright, colorful and care-free images it evokes. I'm happy mom made it mean more to me...

Hues that dazzle: hazy spring pastels

There's a fresh coat of snow covering the spring green grass outside here in Utah. That doesn't stop me from fantasizing about warm, hazy florals.

Hues that dazzle: red, yellow, turquoise.

I'm really crushing on the look of yellows mixed with reds and turquoise. Any combo of these three colors is divine. Pastels, brights, bolds, softs...all of it. The contrast and the sunset feeling I get when I look at it. Aaahh. Whether it's a necklace, like the one photographed here, a kid's room,  other jewelry, wallpaper, or even a cake--it's always vibrant.

Hues that dazzle: kids in color

My niece and nephew. I love this photo. Loved the colors. Thought there should be a palette in its honor. Photo from this photographer that I love.

Hues that dazzle: our wedding

We didn't have wedding colors or a scheme in particular. We just let nature be the backdrop and my wildflower bouquet added plenty of punchy colors! For more wedding details and photos, hop to my other blog.

Hues that dazzle: sherbet.

I created this color palette from a photo I love. Creamy, vintage tones remind me of summer with a bowl of sherbet ice cream. (Can you tell I'm absolutely yeeeeearning for warm weather?) This scheme would be fun for a room, an outfit or a wedding theme.
