This year I sent out a new years card from an old photo. The main reason I did it: I wanted a reason to practice Photoshop. And I was too lazy/busy/sick to make a xmas one in time. So here you have it. My first little word art project.

Confetti birthday invitation.
I used this tutorial to create the confetti in Photoshop in one easy stroke. This was so much fun to design. The fonts were downloaded for free via dafont.com. The party was amazing, too.

Save the dates.
Now that it's almost wedding time for Amanda, I can post her cute save the dates. She gave me complete freedom on these. Since Nate proposed atop the Empire State building, I thought we should incorporate it in the design somehow. Found a free photo silhouette, re-colored it in Photoshop, downloaded a cute traveling typewriter font, used the NYC heart, and poof. A cute and simple city-sleek post card. The reverse features a sweet little poem about the couple.
And just for fun, here's a cute collage of the couple.
Wouldn't something like this be cute as the reverse of a wedding invite?!

Rain-theme shower invitations.
Imagine it with a shiny, 3D umbrella in the center.
My friend and I created these rain shower-themed shower invitations for Amanda's bridal party. What a blast. I've always wanted to do a shower-themed shower. I found the inspiration for these invites somewhere on Pinterest. And I didn't pin it. DUH. Now I cannot find the original image and I feel terrible because I can't give credit where it's due. But. We did make these special with custom fonts and colors that go with Amanda's shiny city wedding. Each one is fixed to a different piece of craft paper. I redacted the image so the address and phone number aren't showing. But you get the main idea. Cute, fun times. Here's a photo of a finished, printed invite with the metallic umbrella attached.
This is a crappy picture.
(I'm not a graphic designer. Or photographer.)
The shower itself is going to have some pretty rainy day details, too. Photos to come!

Advice from a tree.
We could all use a little advice sometimes. Who better to teach us than big, flourishing trees?
I'm totally moved by these words and the clever tree analogy. I was inspired to make this when I saw the words floating around pinterest. Was not loving the papyrus typeface so I rewrote it and changed a few things. The original poem is by Ilan Shamir and can be seen in its entirety here. This tree image came from Brooke's blog.
